Protect Your Options With Good Stewardship ![]()
Practicing sound Bt management and following grain marketing requirements are crucial to protect your crop plant options, today and in the future. As the company behind the HERCULEX® family of traits, Dow AgroSciences must help ensure HERCULEX Insect Protection is sold and grown in a way that all regulatory requirements are met. As a result, we have developed a number of tools to facilitate cooperation among HERCULEX customers on all levels. This will help ensure continued access to the latest insect-protection technologies. In many ways, stewardship requirements for the HERCULEX family of traits are similar to other products you've already become familiar. As a grower of hybrids with the HERCULEX family of traits, it is important that the Product Use Guide is followed. The effective management and stewardship of SmartStax™ corn technologies and HERCULEX® I, HERCULEX RW, HERCULEX XTRA and future Insect Protection Bt corn technologies from DAS and DAS business collaborators is key to preserving its value in the future. Preserving Bt corn technologies including HERCULEX and SmartStax technologies requires individual responsibility — the same kind of responsibility required for things such as soil conservation, protection of water quality and the proper use of chemicals. Growers need to be diligent in implementing IRM practices utilizing the planting of a proper refuge area (size and design) as per purchased DAS Sourced Technologies. Crops and other material produced from Bt corn seed can only be exported to, used, processed and/or sold in countries where necessary regulatory approvals are in place for the biotech traits contained in this seed. Talk to your grain handler or other purchaser in advance to facilitate appropriate crop handling and marketing. To assure regulatory agencies and end users of the quality and environmental profile of DAS Sourced Technologies, DAS have made this Agreement part of the production process. Complying with the requirements of this Agreement helps ensure growers maintain access to DAS Sourced Technologies. In addition, a signed Agreement requires growers to keep all grain from DAS Sourced Technologies hybrids out of any non-approved export channels. Growers must have a valid executed Agreement on file with DAS to legally obtain, plant and grow Seed containing DAS Sourced Technologies in Canada. To obtain a copy of the Dow AgroSciences Canada Trait Technology Stewardship Agreement, please contact your Mycogen Seeds dealer, Territory Manager or call 1.877.Mycogen or 1.877.692.6436. Due to regulatory and other changes, these requirements occasionally may be modified. The current Product Use Guide for the HERCULEX family of traits should always serve as your definitive source on these issues. |
