Dow AgroSciences Canada recently announced, for the 2003 season, their Eclipse* Herbicide Commitment program for growers seeding Roundup Ready® canola that have to take the acres out of production due to hail, drought, frost or other acts of God.
Growers are required to purchase Vantage* Plus herbicide for an early weed removal application (0.5 litre per acre) on the acres planned for Roundup Ready canola. Followed by the purchase and use of an in-crop, one pass Eclipse application on the same Roundup Ready canola acres. If the crop fails to establish, by July 1, 2003, Dow AgroSciences will reimburse the Technology Use Agreement fee (currently at $15/acre TUA) for those acres.
The program is only available to growers in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba and applies only to Monsanto's Technology Use Agreement fee and does not replace hail or crop insurance or cover any additional losses. Growers can call their local Dow AgroSciences sales representative or the Solutions Center at 1-800-667-3852 for further details.
Eclipse is a new herbicide that offers the most complete weed control in Roundup Ready canola. It is the only product that controls thistle, wild buckwheat and dandelion in Roundup Ready canola.
Vantage Plus is Dow AgroSciences' alternative to Roundup Transorb registered for use in Roundup Ready crops including canola, corn and soybean. It provides the same power, same performance and same premium weed control along with 60 minute rainfastness.
Eclipse and Vantage Plus have become widely accepted across the west and are available at all farm supply retails.
