Range & Pasture Brush Control Gets Easier
Remedy* now registered for aerial application
Calgary, AB - November 19, 2001
Brush control just got easier for ranchers across western Canada with the recent Remedy* aerial application registration. Remedy, from Dow AgroSciences, is a highly effective systemic herbicide that works on the entire woody plant right down to the roots. Now, it is even easier to apply with the new registration for application by both helicopter and fixed wing aircraft, in addition to ground application methods.
"Remedy is safe to grass and offers extended control of brush species," says Tyler Groeneveld, Dow AgroSciences Range & Pasture Market Specialist. "Herbicide brush control simplifies management and saves time, while allowing cattlemen to battle brush encroachment on their pastures and rangeland. Aerial application of Remedy makes control of five to six foot tall brush possible."
The new aerial registration allows ranchers to conveniently control brush, too tall for standard ground application units, in larger or hard to access areas without having to invest in mechanical control with large equipment, taking the land out of production, or reseeding grass. Remedy's convenient ground application methods, including broadcast applications and selective stem foliar treatments, are convenient options depending on brush height and the size and accessibility of the brush encroached area.
Remedy provides enhanced grass production by providing flexible, broad-spectrum control of many challenging brush species, like aspen, balsam poplar and willow. For optimum results, Remedy should be applied when woody plants are actively growing. For harder to control species such as ash, chokecherry, elm, maple, oaks and pine, ranchers will find that higher rates of Remedy provide effective control (see label for specific application rates and details).
