Summer Internship Job Summary

During your first weeks on the job, you will attend a formal classroom and field-based training rated best in class. You'll spend the summer in the real world, imbedded with one of our Field Based Sales Team under the supervision of a Senior Sales Representative or District Sales Manager. You'll learn about our products and seed line-up, account planning, time management, and problem solving while providing technical service to farmers or dealers. Summer Intern General Information for Crop Protection and Seed Sales: 
Under the supervision of Dow AgroSciences Sales Representatives or District Sales Manager (DSM), the sales intern is responsible for providing technical service to farmers and sales support to dealers. These activities require technical know-how and knowledge of management practices and business principles. Expertise in plant science, Agribusiness, and/or related disciplines will ensure optimal success.

Summer Internship Primary Responsibilities vary by project, but often include:

  • Create demand of Dow AgroSciences and Mycogen Seed Customers products by providing technical service and advice to farmers and dealers
  • Establish, implement and manage demo plots with key farmers and centers of influence
  • Help coordinate activities and tasks associated with plot tours and field days – including selection of promotional aids, developing a schedule and preparing the site
  • Gather competitive information and communicate market trends and future needs
  • Promote the responsible use of Dow AgroSciences and Mycogen Seeds products
  • Responsible for investigating, rationalizing, and resolving assigned product performance claims and informing the Sales Rep/DSM of action(s) taken
  • Reviewing and evaluating demonstration plots and making suggestions for improvements
  • Develop a good knowledge of the customers and related territory to successfully fulfill the role (customers, center of influence, dealers, distributors, competitors, etc.)
  • Project professional image and maintain car and equipment to the highest standard
  • Manage expenses in the best way to reach maximum productivity
  • Position key product features, advantages and benefits to create demand for DAS products
