Prestige XL & Simplicity GoDRI Support

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

ONLY FOR THE TANK-MIX OF

PRESTIGE XL + SIMPLICITY GoDRI

BACKGROUND

  • The Prestige XL formulation was developed ahead of the Simplicity GoDRI formulation.
  • When we completed standard compatibility testing, it was discovered that there is a compatibility issue when Prestige XL & Simplicity GoDRI are tankmixed (a precipitate forms).
  • Formulation chemists have identified a short term fix and are working on an upgrade to the formulation to correct the problem long term.  The timing of availability of the upgraded formulation will be dependent on the regulatory approval timeline.
  • All other registered tank mixes, including Simplicity original formulation, are fully compatible.

TANK MIXING PRESTIGE XL + SIMPLICITY GoDRI

To tankmix the current Prestige XL formulation with Simplicity GoDRI, follow the procedure below:

  1. Fill spray tank ½ full with clean water
  2. Start sprayer tank agitation.
  3. (See exception below – follow instruction if applicable)
  4. Add 0.25% v/v of ammonia (Finish® or Flush® 7% ammonia) to the spray tank prior to adding the herbicides  Example: For a 4000 L tank, 10 L of Finish or Flush would be added
    1. Add the required amount of Simplicity GoDRI
    2. Add the correct amount of Prestige XL and continue to agitate.
    3. Add non-ionic surfactant such as Agral 90 (0.25% v.v), Sentry (0.25% v/v), High Activate (1% v/v) and ProSurf II (1%v/v) per 100 L of spray solution
    4. Fill the sprayer tank with the remaining amount of water required.

EXCEPTION – HIGH BICARBONATE WATER – with poor quality water that is high in bicarbonates (>400 ppm), such as                                                                                                exists in some areas of western MB, adding ammonia by itself to the                                                                                                      water may result in a precipitate.

In this water, AMS must be added first at 2% v/v in addition to ammonia

A sticker has been applied to the top of existing inventory of Prestige XL drums, but it is possible that some may have been missed.  The sticker indicates that “This Prestige™ XL formulation requires an additive to be mixed with NEW Simplicity™ GoDRI.  Contact Dow AgroSciences for mixing instructions.

IF a farmer does mix the product without a water conditioner and a precipitate results:

At 10 US gal/ac spray solution (100 L/ha)

  • The addition of 0.5% v/v Finish or Flush as a corrective measure resulted in no precipitate on a 100 mesh filter.
  • The addition of 3% v/v AMS as a corrective measure also resulted in no precipitate on a 100 mesh filter.

At 5 US gal/ac spray solution (45 L/ha)

  • The addition of 0.5% v/v Finish or Flush as a corrective measure resulted in no precipitate on a 100 mesh filter.
  • The addition of 5% v/v AMS as a corrective measure resulted in no precipitate on a 100 mesh filter.

Follow thorough tank clean out procedures to ensure sprayer is completely cleaned out, including removal of end caps and flushing lines, cleaning screens and nozzles.  Pay attention to any supply lines that fall or loop below the level of the spray booms, as material could collect in those sections of hose.

Sprayer Clean-Out Instructions

To avoid injury to desirable plants, thoroughly clean equipment used to apply this product before re-use or using it to apply other chemicals.

1. Immediately after spraying, completely drain the sprayer tank. Any contamination on the outside of the spraying   equipment should be removed by washing with clean water.

2. First rinse:

  • Spray the inside of tank with clean water and fill the sprayer with at least one tenth of the spray tank volume.
  • Agitate and circulate for 15 minutes, and flush through booms and hoses.
  • Remove end caps or open ball valves on the ends of each boom section, and flush solution through the boom ends to ensure there is no spray solution trapped between the boom end and the nozzles.
  • Drain tank completely.

3. Second rinse:

  • Fill the tank with clean water.
  • Add All Clear® Spray Tank Decontaminator as per manufacturer’s recommendations while filling the tank with clean water.
  • Agitate and then flush the boom and hoses with the cleaning solution. Top up with water making sure the tank is completely full. Allow to stand for 15 minutes with agitation. Flush the solution out of the spray tank through the spray booms. Remove end caps or open ball valves on the ends of each boom section, and flush solution through the boom ends to ensure there is no spray solution trapped between the boom end and the nozzles.
  • If possible, let the solution stand in the sprayer tank and booms for an extended period of time, overnight if possible.
  • After flushing the boom and hoses, drain tank completely.  Check any low hanging or loops of supply line hose that is below the level of the spray boom, as solution or any particulates could become trapped in those sections – remove and flush/drain separately.
  • Remove nozzles and screens and clean separately with a cleaning agent or an ammonia solution (100 mL in 10 L water).

4. Third rinse:

  • Rinse the tank with clean water and flush through the boom and hoses using at least one tenth of the spray tank volume.
  • Remove end caps or open ball valves on the ends of each boom section, and flush solution through the boom ends to ensure there is no spray solution trapped between the boom end and the nozzles.
  • Drain tank completely.
