Product Stewardship is a vital part of everything we do at Dow. It reaches across all functions and beyond our gates to help us ensure that our products are used safely for their intended purposes, throughout their life cycles.
At Dow AgroSciences, we define Product Stewardship as responsible and ethical management of technologies and products across the life cycle, from its discovery or development through to its ultimate use and discontinuation; we are constantly striving to promote good stewardship practices every step of the way.
In every stage of a product’s development - from design and manufacture, marketing, distribution, use and waste management - our employees are trained to adhere to the global standards set by The Dow Chemical Company and Dow AgroSciences in accordance with country or regional regulations and industry standards, like the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care® initiative, the International Code of Conduct on the Distribution and Use of Pesticides from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and plant biotechnology industry’s Excellence Through Stewardship program.
To quote the American Chemistry Council, Product Stewardship "makes health, safety and environmental protection an integral part of designing, manufacturing, marketing, distributing, using and recycling and disposing of our products”. Every Dow employee is the key to making Product Stewardship work at all levels, both on Dow sites and beyond our gates.
