Mycogen Seeds is excited to announce that it is introducing 58 new grain corn hybrids to its lineup. Especially noteworthy are several stacked-trait hybrids containing Herculex® XTRA Insect Protection and Roundup Ready® technologies.
"We have a full lineup of corn hybrids with powerful traits to protect growers' yield all season long," says Terry Gardner, Marketing Specialist, Mycogen Seeds. "These hybrids are proven to perform through extensive company and on-farm testing."
New Grain Corn Hybrids
Featuring high test weight, strong standability and excellent ear retention, 2K154 also offers an early maturity of 83 days. This new hybrid, designed for northern grain production, offers Herculex I Insect Protection and Roundup Ready technologies. It also features LibertyLink® making it tolerant to over-the-top applications of LIBERTY® herbicide. Its semi-flex ear type helps adjust to variable soil conditions and management practices.
Offering YieldGard® Plus and Roundup Ready technologies, 2R428 is a medium-tall hybrid with outstanding yields, excellent root strength and exceptional drought-stress tolerance. It's a yield leader at 96-day maturity, offering strong performance across a wide range of soil types and management practices.
2Y519, a close relative of Mycogen's 2E522 family of hybrids, is stacked with Herculex XTRA, LibertyLink and Roundup Ready technologies. In addition, this 101-day hybrid offers improved yield and stalk quality. It also features very good emergence and early vigor, fall staygreen and fast fall drydown. In addition, 2Y519 provides good tolerance to gray leaf spot (GLS).
Stacked with Herculex XTRA and LibertyLink technologies, 2E526 is a high-yielding hybrid with excellent emergence and early vigor. These characteristics make this 101-day hybrid a strong choice for no-till and early planting. 2E526 also moves north well for its relative maturity, setting up grain quickly.
Featuring excellent emergence and early vigor for no-till and early planting, 2D551 is a 103-day hybrid stacked with Herculex® I, Roundup Ready and LibertyLink technologies. Strong stalks and very good staygreen provide added staying power in high-yield environments. Additionally, this hybrid has good tolerance to GLS and eyespot.
2R577 is a 104-day hybrid that has exceptional performance in high-yield environments. Stacked with Herculex XTRA, Roundup Ready and LibertyLink technologies, 2R577 features excellent yields, consistent ears, deep grains and slender cobs. This hybrid also moves south well into 105- to 110-day growing environments.
A medium-height hybrid with high yield potential, 2C597 is a very consistent hybrid with moderately girthy ears, white cobs and very good grain quality. This 107-day hybrid is stacked with Herculex I, Roundup Ready and LibertyLink technologies. It performs best at moderate plant populations that allow ears to flex. In addition, 2C597 has good tolerance to Goss's wilt.
A 107-day hybrid with very good fall staygreen and standability, 2E636 features Herculex XTRA and LibertyLink technologies. This hybrid has excellent drought-stress tolerance and responds to high plant densities and good fertility. A strong and consistent performer as a full-season hybrid, 2E636 works well across northern Iowa.
A standout at late field days due to exceptional plant health and staygreen, 2D675 features excellent yield and standability across a wide range of environments and management practices. This 109-day hybrid is stacked with Herculex I, Roundup Ready and LibertyLink technologies. In addition, this hybrid demonstrates excellent early vigor, stalk strength and ear retention. 2D675 is also particularly well-adapted east of the Mississippi River, where the western corn rootworm soybean variant is present.
2G689, a 110-day hybrid, is stacked with Herculex® XTRA, LibertyLink and Roundup Ready technologies. This hybrid features excellent yield stability across a wide range of environments, and is well-adapted east of the Mississippi River where the western corn rootworm soybean variant is present.
Offering improved test weight, better husk coverage and lower ear height, 2M749 is stacked with Herculex I, LibertyLink and Roundup Ready technologies. A relative of 2784, this 114-day hybrid demonstrates yield and stability over years and environments. It performs best in areas where it is medium-full to full season.
"These new grain corn hybrids feature elite genetics so growers get top-performing hybrids, excellent standability and ultimately higher yields," Gardner says.
Since European Union (EU) import approval is pending, Herculex RW Rootworm Protection and Herculex XTRA are Market Choices® products. Grain containing either product must be marketed domestically, fed on-farm, or delivered to elevators or other markets where neither the grain nor its processed products (e.g., gluten) will be shipped to the EU.
Grain from hybrids containing Herculex I only is fully approved for food and feed use in the EU; however, this approval does not apply to grain (or processed products from this grain, e.g., gluten) from Herculex I hybrids stacked with Roundup Ready Corn 2. Grain from hybrids containing Herculex® I Insect Protection and Roundup Ready corn is a Market Choices product and must be marketed accordingly.
