Mycogen® Seeds Adds 12 New Silage-Specific Corn Hybrids to Lineup

Indianapolis, IN - August 07, 2006

Mycogen Seeds has added 12 new Silage-Specific™ BMR (brown mid-rib)  and TMF hybrids to its lineup, including five stacked with Herculex® I Insect Protection or Herculex XTRA Insect Protection traits.

"Our Silage-Specific hybrids give growers the technology needed for more milk production," says Greg Cannon, Marketing Specialist, Mycogen Seeds. "Additionally, we are pleased to release hybrids stacked with the latest trait technologies."

New Silage-Specific Hybrids
A popular hybrid and frequent winner in the World's Forage Analysis Superbowl at World Dairy Expo, F2F697 is now available stacked with Herculex I and LibertyLink® technology as F2F699. This new BMR hybrid is tall with a very good forage yield and very high Nutrient Detergent Fiber (NDF) digestibility.

With excellent forage yield potential and very good plant health, F2F485 is a BMR hybrid that makes a strong later companion to F2F357 or earlier companion to F2F444. This hybrid prefers favorable growing conditions and moderate populations.

Also a new BMR hybrid is F2F566, an early relative of F697 with good ear flex and improved gray leaf spot (GLS) tolerance. This hybrid offers excellent NDF digestibility for dairy rations and performs best at moderate populations. F2F566 is a strong companion or replacement for F2F581.

F2F610 is a taller BMR hybrid with very high forage yield and drought-stress tolerance. Rating high for both whole-plant and NDF digestibility, this hybrid performs best at moderate to moderately high plant densities.

Slightly taller and earlier than F697, F2F631 is a hybrid with improved general health and slightly better GLS tolerance. It provides very good tonnage for its height and its ears will flex for length. F2F631 would be a companion or replacement for F697.

Showy in appearance, TMF2L416 combines very good plant agronomics with stress tolerance and plant health. Stacked with Herculex I, LibertyLink and Roundup Ready® Corn 2 traits, this hybrid offers resistance from over-the-top applications of LIBERTY® herbicides. Additionally, this hybrid makes an excellent early maturing companion for our 95-day TMF hybrids, coupled with high forage quality and yield potential.

A high-yielding silage hybrid, TMF2Q728 offers consistent ear development and strong roots, as well as very good drought tolerance. This hybrid is stacked Herculex I and LibertyLink, and has high fiber digestibility and grain content, making it a strong choice for all silage producers. It also provides an excellent tolerance to GLS.

A medium-tall relative of TMF2Q731, TMF2Q753 offers consistent ears, strong roots and very good drought tolerance. Stacked with Herculex® I Insect Protection, as well as LibertyLink and Roundup Ready Corn 2 traits, this hybrid has very good tolerance to GLS.

Offering very good drought-stress tolerance and remaining healthy throughout the chopping season, TMF2N804 is a full-season leafy-type hybrid with excellent tonnage potential. This hybrid moves south into fuller season environments and is stacked with Herculex I, LibertyLink and Roundup Ready Corn 2 technology.
