Mycogen Seeds announces the addition of four new hybrids to its sunflower lineup, with several protection options, including downy mildew and CLEARFIELD® resistance.
New sunflower hybrids
The high-oleic version of the popular Mycogen® brand 8N453DM, 8H449DM is resistant to all known races of downy mildew in the United States. This hybrid has the same agronomic and plant characteristics as 8N453DM.
One of the earliest-maturing CLEARFIELD NuSun® hybrids on the market, 8N358CL provides growers with very good oil content and good yield potential. This hybrid shows good drydown characteristics and is suitable for Northern planting areas with shorter growing seasons.
With excellent hulling properties, 8D480 is a superior full-season NuSun hybrid. This hybrid makes a strong complement to 8D310 in longer-season markets and shows exceptional ability to resist environmental stress.
8C482 is a full-season confection hybrid with superior seed size and seed color. Additionally, this hybrid offers excellent yield potential, plant health and uniformity, which makes it well-suited for the in-shell market.
“We are thrilled to offer these new hybrids in 2008, as they fit the needs of nearly all sunflower growers,” says Keith Porter, Marketing Specialist, Mycogen Seeds. “Because of our market versatility, a match can be made for those looking for advantages in the oil, bird food or confection markets.”
