Dow AgroSciences Recognized with International Award for Best New Crop Protection Product
Selected as Finalist in Seven Other Agrow Awards Categories
Indianapolis - November 02, 2010
Dow AgroSciences, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW), was recognized for industry-leading technology and innovation with an international Agrow Award for "Best New Crop Protection Product." The prestigious Agrow Awards honor corporate and individual excellence in the crop protection and production industry.
Dow AgroSciences won Best New Crop Protection Product for spinetoram (Palgus™, Exalt™, sold in Central and Latin America). Spinetoram benefits millions of maize growers across Latin America by controlling Spodoptera frugiperda, the most significant pest of maize in Latin America. Spinetoram (Palgus™ 60SC, Exalt™ 60SC) provides outstanding control of S. frugiperda, with fast knockdown and good residual control, and it's even effective against insecticide-resistant S. frugiperda populations. Spinetoram has a very low use rate, very low mammalian toxicity, short environmental persistence, and minimal effects on non-target organisms and most beneficial arthropods.
"Our company has a strong history with the Agrow Awards, and we're excited to be recognized again this year for our work in exploring, creating and delivering differentiated crop protection products," said Dan Kittle, Ph.D., vice president, R&D for Dow AgroSciences. "This is also great recognition for our thousands of global employees who are constantly advancing science, creating breakthrough ideas, and delivering collaborative solutions."
Winners of the 2010 Agrow Awards were selected by a panel of 12 independent judges from the crop protection and agricultural biotech industry, and were announced today during an awards ceremony in London.
In addition to being named the winner of the Best New Crop Protection Product, Dow AgroSciences was also recognized as a finalist for people and products in the following categories:
