Dow AgroSciences to Highlight Life Science Careers for Thousands of FFA Students During National FFA Convention
Indianapolis, IN - October 11, 2006 When thousands of FFA members visit Indianapolis October 25-28, they will take home so much more than Circle City souvenirs thanks to companies like Dow AgroSciences. As a host to FFA Career Success tours, Dow AgroSciences will give students perspective on the many exciting careers available in agriculture at a leading life science company serving global markets. Several thousand students will participate in the company’s tours which include six interactive research demonstrations highlighting work in discovery, predevelopment and development phases of the innovation process. For example, FFA members will learn about the research of identifying genes, analyzing potential products and the important environmental assessments that are done during a product's development. “It is our hope that through interacting with our scientists, FFA students’ eyes will be opened to the many career possibilities that exist in technology-driven companies such as Dow AgroSciences,” says Dr. Dan Kittle, vice president of Research and Development at Dow AgroSciences. “FFA students represent the leaders of the future, and we want them to know that work in the life sciences in Indianapolis could hold great possibilities for them.” “FFA members across the nation are preparing for careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture,” says Dr. Larry D. Case, National FFA Advisor. “When a world-class company such as Dow AgroSciences provides an opportunity to explore these aspects firsthand, our members can make informed choices and get excited about their futures.” If members of the media would like to participate in a tour on Friday, October 27, contact Kenda Resler Friend or Colleen Kelly.
