Dow AgroSciences’ Kelly Scientific Summer Intern Wins National Essay Scholarship Award
Indianapolis, IN - August 13, 2009 Dow AgroSciences is proud to announce that Kristin Fenker, a summer intern employed through the Scientific Resources Kelly Services division, won the top honor nationally in the Future Scientists Program offered annually by Kelly Scientific Research. Fenker is a graduate student studying biotechnology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Fenker’s essay was the first prize winner selected from those written by Kelly Scientific interns from across the U.S. who had the opportunity to write an essay addressing the following questions: “How has recent government scientific policy affected the direction of scientific research? How do you think recent events will shape scientific policy and research in the near future and what does this mean to you?” Essays were judged based on depth of knowledge and awareness of the issue addressed, as well as creativity, composition, and originality. Fenker won $3,000 for first place. “We at Dow AgroSciences are extremely proud to employ some of the most talented, thoughtful, and intelligent scientists in the world – and that includes our interns,” said Daniel R. Kittle, Ph.D., vice president of Research and Development at Dow AgroSciences. “Kristin is a great example of that; she brings many talents to the table, including the unique ability to understand and clearly communicate many complex scientific concepts.
