Advancing Global Agriculture on Midwest Farms
During the first week of September, steamy, hot weather in the midwestern United States usually has people sitting next to the nearest air conditioner for relief. But thousands of people across the United States and around the world use these dog days of summer to eagerly seek out the Farm Progress Show, where they can learn about the latest advancements in agriculture. From yield-enhancing traits in corn hybrids to a new nitrogen stabilization technology for liquid nitrogen and manure, the Farm Progress Show this year will highlight the most innovative products available or soon to be available on the market.

For more than 50 years, the show has provided an outlet for leading companies in agriculture to educate farmers, students and community members about agricultural products that feed and fuel the ever-growing world population. And according to a survey taken of farmers who attended the 2008 show, the average farm size of a visitor is 1,092 acres. With the national farm size average at 418 acres,* Farm Progress Show visitors have a valuable impact on today's food production industry.
