T-MAX* - the new generation in weed control

New generation weed control

A new weapon to fight against invasive and problematic broadleaf weeds in New Zealand pastures is now available.

New Zealand is one of the first countries in the world to register the new Dow AgroSciences product, T-MAX, which contains a new active ingredient, aminopyralid. T-MAX has recently gained the approval of regulatory bodies for its use in pastoral and wasteland areas of New Zealand. Its release here is another example of Dow AgroSciences innovation.

T-MAX is a powerful herbicide which has been proven to give excellent post emergent control of a range of broadleaf weeds including ragwort and thistles. Never before has there been a grass safe product that controls these weeds using so little product. Compared to Tordon Gold, the low use rate of T-MAX means that much less active ingredient is used for the same job. This results in reduced packaging and, therefore, reduced on-farm packaging waste. In fact, compared to Tordon Gold, only half the packaging is required.

T-MAX comes as an aqueous formulation which means that it is a water based solvent free formulation. It is easy to measure, only requiring 6mls of product per litre of water. So at only 60mls T-MAX for every 10 litre knapsack, a little goes a long way. T-MAX is available in 1, 5, 10 and 20 litres pack sizes.

Broad weed spectrum
As with other Tordon products, T_MAX controls a wide range of broadleaf weeds. The

current label has claims for the control of ragwort, annual thistles, Californian thistle, Docks and Capeweed. And it does not stop there - more weeds are being added to the label as field research continues.

Application methods
T-MAX may be applied as a spot application either through a knapsack, a motorbike sprayer or as a high volume gun and hose application. In addition to this, T-MAX may also be applied as a broadcast application in areas where weeds are very dense. Care should be taken when broadcast spraying since T-MAX is extremely injurious to legumes. Clover and lucerne will be removed from the pasture where broadcast applications are made. T-MAX may also be applied through carpet wipers for the control of certain weeds.

Brian Husband, Research Manager for Dow AgroSciences, says: "T-MAX is a new product with excellent activity on key problem weeds in New Zealand pastures. Low use rates coupled with a low odour formulation make it an easy tool to use in the fight against broadleaf weeds."

T-MAX is registered pursuant to the ACVM Act 1997, No P7231.
