Our Platforms

Our biotechnology business is organized into three interrelated business platforms:

• Seeds & Traits – focused on input traits, output traits and outstanding genetics that help farmers enhance food and fiber production.
• Healthy Oils – focused on output oil traits that provide desirable alternatives for health-conscious consumers.
• Animal Health Vaccines – focused on the emerging science of plant-cell-produced animal vaccines.

In each of these business platforms, we uniquely combine some of the world’s most innovative plant biotechnology with the world-class analytical expertise of The Dow Chemical Company.

As a result of this capability, we can analyze more than 400,000 individual metabolites per day: 

• our functional genomics program can screen as many as 400 unique genes/day (the industry average is 50 to 100 per year); and
• our unique metabolic screening lab can examine more than 1,000 metabolites per gene sample.

This is one of the reasons we are among the world leaders in plant biotechnology – and why we are as much as two years ahead of other biotechnology companies in some areas of discovery.
