Fowler Joins Dow AgroSciences as Cotton Development Specialist for PhytoGen

INDIANAPOLIS – Nov. 2, 2009 – Dow AgroSciences announces John "Ty" Fowler recently joined the PhytoGen team as a cotton development specialist. Fowler will lead sales and marketing efforts for PhytoGen® cottonseed and WideStrike® Insect Protection in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

"We are fortunate to have someone with Ty's credentials on board at Dow AgroSciences," says Duane Canfield, Dow AgroSciences general manager and market specialist for PhytoGen. "His addition, along with our current cotton development specialists, continues our commitment to being the right choice with high-yielding, high-quality PhytoGen cottonseed."

Fowler brings a wealth of industry knowledge to PhytoGen. He joined the team after most recently working as a technology development representative with Delta and Pine Land (DPL) in the Tifton, Ga., area. Fowler had worked for DPL since 2000 in various roles, including senior field agronomist and local field adviser. He began his cottonseed career with Stoneville in 1999, after receiving a bachelor's degree at Francis Marion University and a master's degree from Clemson University.

"I am excited to be part of a group at Dow AgroSciences that is dedicated to bringing new germplasm and technology to the U.S. cotton grower," Fowler says.

In his role as a CDS for PhytoGen, Fowler is responsible for all aspects of planning and implementing cotton variety trials, working with key influencers in the cotton industry, and providing technical support for PhytoGen sales representatives. Fowler also is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities for Dow AgroSciences as well as evaluating PhytoGen cottonseed performance in the upper Southeast.

"Having spent my entire professional career in the cottonseed industry, I am grateful for the opportunity to focus my efforts completely on cotton and the great people who grow it," Fowler says. "As a South Carolinian, I also look forward to proving that PhytoGen cottonseed is the industry leader in the Southeast."

Fowler and his family plan to reside in the Raleigh, N.C., area.

PhytoGen is introducing a limited number of new varieties in 2010, including its first entry into the mid- to full-season market with PhytoGen brand PHY 565 WRF. For more information about PhytoGen cottonseed, visit www.PhytoGenYields.com.
