Avicta® Complete Cotton and PhytoGen® cottonseed have created the “Fiber of Giving” cotton drive to help critically ill children and their families through the Believe In Tomorrow™ Children’s Foundation.
The “Fiber of Giving” campaign, beginning at the Beltwide Cotton Conference January 4 through 7, 2011, encourages cotton growers, retailers and interested participants to donate cotton goods such as sheets, towels, pillowcases and blankets. Monetary donations also are welcome. Avicta Complete Cotton and PhytoGen cottonseed, an affiliate of Dow AgroSciences, will match donations dollar for dollar up to $5,000 total. Contributions also will be accepted at the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show taking place February 25 to 26, 2011.
“PhytoGen is committed to the cotton industry and providing support to charitable causes, so we are excited to launch the new ‘Fiber of Giving’ campaign,” said Duane Canfield, general manager and portfolio marketing leader for PhytoGen. “Both Syngenta Seedcare and PhytoGen have a history of delivering quality products, and now we want to promote the use of cotton goods to help others.”
Since 1986, Believe In Tomorrow has provided more than 560,000 overnight accommodations near medical facilities, helping families stay together in the midst of a medical crisis. Believe In Tomorrow strives to mend the supportive web of normal family life – to help the healing process – through three key programs: Hospital Housing, Respite Housing near medical facilities, and Hands On™ Adventures. Each program provides critically ill children and their families with unique and powerful pathways to rejuvenate and reconnect as a family during and after treatment. Believe In Tomorrow recently opened an expansive mountain-top oasis to serve military families with critically ill children, creating high demand for queen-sized cotton sheets and white cotton towels.
