Dr. Sterling Brooks Blanche Joins Dow AgroSciences as Cotton Development Specialist for PhytoGen


Indianapolis - December 20, 2011

Dow AgroSciences is pleased to announce that recognized cotton agronomist Dr. Sterling Brooks Blanche has joined PhytoGen as its newest cotton development specialist (CDS). Dr. Blanche joins the strongest team of technical advisors in the cottonseed industry today.

   

“We are extremely excited to have Dr. Blanche join our outstanding team of cotton development specialists. He brings with him a deep knowledge of cotton production in the Lower Midsouth,” says Duane Canfield, general manager and portfolio marketing leader for PhytoGen.

Blanche will provide agronomic support for PhytoGen® cottonseed and WideStrike® Insect Protection in the Lower Midsouth region, which includes parts of Louisiana and Mississippi.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to interact with the PhytoGen CDS team,” Dr. Blanche says. “I will be working with an outstanding group of people and we have an excellent product line. I look forward to taking my experience as a cotton breeder to the next level.” 

Dr. Blanche holds a doctorate from Louisiana State University (LSU), a master’s degree from Mississippi State University and a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University. Prior to joining the PhytoGen team, he was an assistant professor at LSU.
 
While at the LSU AgCenter’s Dean Lee Research Station, Dr. Blanche ran a detailed cotton variety characterization research program. Aside from his university experience, Dr. Blanche has been a technical reviewer for the American Society of Agronomy and for the Crop Science Society of America. He is a former vice president of the Louisiana Agricultural Sciences Association.
