Controlling Bed Bugs

The common bed bug,
Cimex lectularius, feeds
on human blood.

Once nearly eradicated as a common pest, bed bugs are again infesting the United States. When bed bug infestations are extensive and immediate eradication is required, whole-structure, chamber or compartmentalized (fumigating a specific room(s) in a structure) fumigation with Vikane® gas fumigant is the best solution.
Bed bugs:
- Are about a quarter-inch long and reddish-brown in color.
- Have oval, flattened bodies that resemble apple seeds.
- Are most commonly found in motels, hotels, dormitories, apartment buildings, shelters and transport vehicles, including recreational boats.
- Can cause an allergic reaction, producing skin lesions that resemble those caused by mosquitoes and creating the same urge to itch.
- Come out of hiding at night to feed.
