New Option Available for Stored Product Pest Management in Seed Facilities

ProFume gas fumigant proven effective in stored product pest elimination for seeds

INDIANAPOLIS – July 14, 2006 – A new option is now available to eliminate stored seed product pests without facility corrosion, or seed vigor issues.1

Dow AgroSciences recently announced the efficacy of ProFume® gas fumigant in seed facilities. ProFume, a broad-spectrum post-harvest fumigant, is labeled for fumigation of sites containing seeds of commodities such as corn, cotton, wheat, soybeans and more. In addition, sites containing other seed varieties may be fumigated, so long as the fumigated seeds will not be part of the food chain for human consumption.2

Several major U.S. seed companies, along with Dow AgroSciences, have researched the use of ProFume on seeds for stored product pest control with remarkably promising results. The data shows that ProFume provides fast, effective stored product pest control, while causing no corrosion, resistance or disposal issues.

A literature piece, “Seed Fumigation Success with ProFume® gas fumigant,” summarizing the benefits of ProFume for seed facilities, including data from germination studies, can be ordered by contacting Dow AgroSciences at 1-800-352-6776.

Since its initial registration in 2004, ProFume has been used in over 150 commercial fumigations, and is labeled for use in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. For more information about ProFume® gas fumigant, please visit www.ProFume.com.
