Dow AgroSciences Recognized in International AGROW Awards Program

ProFume gas fumigant stewardship honored as a finalist

INDIANAPOLIS – Oct. 17, 2007 – Dow AgroSciences LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, was recently recognized for its innovation and stewardship in the international AGROW Awards competition.

In the Product Stewardship and Risk Mitigation award category, Dow AgroSciences was named a finalist for its stewardship program for ProFume® gas fumigant. The award category recognizes outstanding management of agrochemical or agbiotech products in a sustainable way.

“Dow AgroSciences has nearly 50 years of experience in manufacturing and marketing fumigants,” says Jason Nelson, marketing specialist for ProFume. “Dow AgroSciences has a strong corporate stewardship policy. As a part of that, we require that all fumigators receive annual training to ensure safe handling and proper application.”

ProFume gas fumigant was also recently awarded the Best of the Best Ozone Stratospheric Protection Award by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Dow AgroSciences was also nominated in three categories and named as finalist in each. Those categories include:

  • Aminopyralid-containing Herbicides – Best New Crop Protection Product
  • Spinetoram – Most Innovative Chemistry
  • Agricultural Science Outreach Tours – Best Public Program

Dow AgroSciences was named the winner in the 2007 Best Formulation Innovation category for its EcoZome™ new century formulation technology. EcoZome technology is a system that delivers favorable attributes through reduction of undesirable organic chemical solvents.

This is the first year AGROW awards have presented. Entries were judged by a panel of 13 industry professionals from around the world. AGROW Awards honor corporate and individual excellence in the crop protection and production industry. Award winners were named October 16 at a dinner and presentation in Glasgow, UK.
