Knapweed - Diffuse
Family: Asteraceae Structure: A single upright, hairy stem with numerous spreading branches. Life Cycle: Either biennial or short-lived perennial. Up to 3 feet tall. Rosette formed first year, flowering stalk elongates second year. Leaves: Alternate, grayish-green. Basal leaves are whorled, with much smaller upper leaves. All are covered with fine hair. Flowers: Usually white, though sometimes pink, rose or lavender. Produced late June through September. Solitary. Seed head bracts end as sharp, rigid spines. Roots: Elongated taproot. Treatment: Application Timing: Apply during active growth with the optimum time being rosette to the bolting stage or fall regrowth. Recommendation: |
