Scientific Name: Centaurea stoebe

Family: Asteraceae

Structure: Up to 4 feet tall. Slender, wiry branches, which are covered with fine hair.

Life Cycle: Biennial or short-lived perennial that reproduces by seeds. A rosette is formed the first year; a flowering stalk elongates the second year.

Leaves: Seedling leaves form a rosette, basal leaves long and divided below, stem leaves short and narrow above. The leaves are covered with fine hair.

Flowers: Up to 1 inch in diameter. Pink to purple, but rarely white. Produced June-October. Seed head bracts are black tipped, with 5-7 pairs of short, feathery appendages.

Roots: Stout taproot.

Treatment:

Application Timing: Apply during active growth with the optimum time from rosette to the bolting stage or fall regrowth.
