We are committed to full and responsible stewardship of field research trials and have implemented management practices and quality management systems to safeguard the environment and public health. Field testing of plant biotechnology crops provides scientists with an opportunity to collect and evaluate information on environmental interactions and agronomic performance. This research information is used in the evaluation and registration of the products. Field-testing occurs under regulatory oversight. We have implemented standard operating procedures for every stage of field trials, from the transport and storage, to the management of the trial site, the harvest and disposal of materials, and the management of trial sites after harvest.
We also have actively supported industry efforts to promote the responsible development of biotechnology products. CropLife International has developed and made available a field trial compliance document to encourage the safe management of confined field trials.
