We have been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a leader in green chemistry, having received four Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Awards under the category of “Designing Greener Chemicals” for the discovery and development of several market leading products. Examples of solutions that received recognition include:
- Spinosad is a novel insecticide that provides targeted control of worm pests but leaves beneficial insects unharmed. It serves as the active ingredient in Tracer®, Success® and Splat-Mat™ insecticides. Spinosad also is used in Entrust® insecticide, which is designed for organic crop protection.
- The Sentricon® Termite Colony Elimination System was recognized in 2000 for revolutionizing home and property protection by utilizing a baiting system that eliminates the need to apply pesticides in the soil around and beneath homes and other structures. With the Sentricon System, a low-toxicity active ingredient that was developed specifically for this difficult-to-control pest eliminates the entire colony after being delivered by foraging termites.
- Delegate™ WG and Radiant™ SC insecticides feature a new active ingredient, spinetoram, which has proven to be very effective against codling moths on fruit and nut crops.
- Confirm® and Intrepid® insecticides are based on a new class of chemistry called methoxyfenozide, which offers farmers an effective technology for insect control in a number of agronomic crops and turf with relatively low toxicity.
