What's the Solution?
A. Brown Patch Incorrect. The disease shown in the photo is dollar spot. On fine-textured and closely cut turf, the disease symptoms appear as round, straw-colored and sunken spots about the size of a silver dollar. On coarse-textured turf kept at taller cutting heights, the dead spots may be larger and more scattered. Dollar spot can be identified by distinctive wounds on the leaf blades of live plants near the border of the affected area. Low nitrogen fertility, improper mowing, excessive soluble salt levels or improper irrigation make turf more susceptible to disease. As a preventive measure against dollar spot, we recommend applying Eagle® 20EW specialty fungicide on a 14- to 28-day application schedule. Optimum disease control is achieved when Eagle 20EW is applied in a preventive disease control program at a labeled rate of 1.0 to 2.4 fluid ounces per 1,000 square feet. It should be applied when conditions are favorable for disease development. Applicators should not make more than three consecutive applications for control of dollar spot before rotating to a registered fungicide with a different mode of action. For more information, visit the Eagle 20EW specialty fungicide product page. |
