What's the Solution?
A. White clover Correct! White clover is a low-growing perennial, with heads of white flowers, often with a tint of pink or cream. The leaf consists of three leaflets that are ¼ to ½ inch long. Each white clover leaflet may have a whitish circular band within the center. While it is adept to many soils, white clover tends to grow best in soils that are moist and low in nitrogen. For optimum white clover control in turf or landscape ornamentals, a preemergence herbicide application is the best option. A fall application of Gallery® specialty herbicide is especially beneficial because it will prevent winter-, fall- and many of the spring-germinating weeds. Applying Gallery at 0.25 ounces per 1,000 square feet will control white clover along with other labeled broadleaf weeds. Another preemergence option when treating in landscape ornamentals is Snapshot® specialty herbicide, which should be applied at 2.3 pounds per 1,000 square feet as a preemergence treatment. In nonresidential turf,Lontrel® specialty herbicide can be applied at 0.125 to 0.2 fluid ounces per 1,000 square feet as a postemergence white clover treatment. |
