New technology to set new standards in brome, wild oats and ryegrass controlUK - June 13, 2007 Dow AgroSciences has launched the Grassweed Initiative, as the first step to entering the cereals grass weed control market with patented new chemistry. The company is seeking approval for GF-1274 which offers very effective control of bromes, wild oats and ryegrasses in winter wheat, rye and triticale. In addition, it provides control of a wide range of broad-leaved weeds, a flexible window of application from GS12-32 and a favourable following crop profile. “We see the new product, if approved, as providing a flexible and convenient solution for control of wild oats, ryegrass and brome,” says Dow AgroSciences marketing specialist James Knight. “GF-1274 will have a key role within weed control programmes, both in cereal crops and across the broader rotation. GF-1274 will be particularly useful in early spring, where it will top up the activities of pre-emergence and early autumn post-emergence treatments removing the yield robbing effects of wild oats, bromes and ryegrasses in the developing crop.” Dow AgroSciences has a long tradition of providing extensive support to its various markets and the Grassweed Initiative will not only support use of GF-1274 in programmes, but also other existing Dow products including Treflan (trifluralin) and Kerb Flo (propyzamide) – both of which continue to offer effective grass weed control without any sign of herbicide resistance. |
