Time for the Sunrise on Winter Wheat

UK - October 19, 2010

In many parts of the country, conditions are now right for winter wheat growers to use the new Dow AgroSciences herbicide Broadway Sunrise.

Stuart Jackson, Dow AgroSciences’ technical expert, says: “With grassweeds at the two to three leaf stage, and soil temperatures above 8°C, this is the ideal time to apply Broadway Sunrise on winter wheat as well as on rye or triticale.

“We recommend early treatment, when young weeds are actively growing, to deliver real benefits in terms of yield. The longer weeds compete with the crop, the greater the effect on yield.

“Broadway Sunrise contains pyroxsulam and pendimethalin, and offers both contact and residual control of broadleaved and grass weeds including ryegrass, sterile or great brome, wild oat or infections of susceptible blackgrass.”

Broadway Sunrise treats the widest range yet of grass and broadleaved weeds.  For those growers using the product on blackgrass and brome, it should be used as part of a programme after a pre-emergence treatment. For ryegrass and wild oat it can be used without a specific pre-em. Broadway Sunrise should always be applied using the adjuvant Respond.
