Growers in the Midlands need to start tackling wild oats, ryegrass and bromes as the spring season for grass-weed control in winter wheat gets under way, according to Dow AgroSciences regional business manager William Corrigan.
Mr Corrigan is recommending Broadway Star this spring, a formulation of pyroxsulam and florasulam, as the best product to effectively control wild oats, ryegrass and bromes with the bonus of controlling broad-leaved weeds and as well.
With so much to do in a short period of time, farmers can save time by applying tank mixes with Broadway Star.
“The tank mixes are going out this week as it needs to be applied before GS32,” says Mr Corrigan.
“I’m advising farmers to ensure the tank mix is half rate PGR or a fungicide – not both.”
