End of June cut-off for clopyralid use

UK - June 23, 2009

Growers who have opted to control volunteer potato in sugar beet with clopyralid (active ingredient in Dow Shield ) must complete second applications by the end of June warns Dow AgroSciences.

“The effect of volunteer potatoes in sugar beet is a substantial loss in yield,” says Dow AgroSciences technical expert David Roberts. “Second applications of clopyralid are recommended to achieve the best results but should be completed by the end of June. As clopyralid has an impact on any daughter tubers produced, growers will benefit from a reduced threat the following year.

“When applying Dow Shield for the control of volunteer potato, the total amount applied to the crop should not exceed 1.0l/ha.”
