Hygiene and Public Health

Introduction

Control of insect pests in domestic, industrial and commercial premises is obviously very important and should always be carried out by a fully trained pest control operator. Areas where insect pest control is required include domestic premises, hospitals, hotels, public buildings and commercial food handling establishments.

Insect Management

Insect pest management is an important consideration when dealing with hygiene and public health. The presence of insects such as cockroaches, fleas and ants is undesirable in domestic and commercial premises, especially in food preparation areas.

Product Choice

Empire* 20, a micro-encapsulated formulation containing the active ingredient chlorpyrifos. Empire 20 is approved as a surface residual insecticide for the control of cockroaches and other crawling insect pests in public health and hygiene.

Empire 20 should be applied as a crack, crevice and spot treatment, not as an overall spray. Application is designed to be on to porous and non-porous surfaces of inert materials. These include concrete, wood, hardboard, steel, lime-washed walls, plastics, synthetic tiles and carpets.

Cockroaches

Treat where insects are found or normally occur, e.g. dark corners of rooms, behind cupboards, cracks and crevices in walls, along and behind skirting boards, beneath and behind sinks, stores, refrigerators, refrigeration units and cabinets, and around plumbing and other utility installations.

Ants

Treat ant trails and wherever theses pests might find an entrance. Empire 20 can be applied as an outside perimeter treatment to provide a complete barrier to entry. It can also be applied to individual areas where ants gain access, e.g. around doors and windows.
