Moving Vegetation Management Forward
For more than 50 years, Dow AgroSciences has continually raised the bar in developing the industry’s most innovative and effective herbicides — pairing them with unrivaled customer support. But being an industry leader means never resting on your laurels, and always looking forward.
“We are thinking about the needs of the vegetation management industry 10 years from now, not just in terms of what today’s challenges are,” says Travis Hirst, IVM product manager with Dow AgroSciences. “Our continuous commitment to research and development will allow us to bring new and intelligent solutions to the market.”
Latest Chemistry
The latest herbicide offerings from Dow AgroSciences are based around its proprietary aminopyralid-based chemistry, which includes Milestone®, Capstone™ and Opensight® specialty herbicides. Aminopyralid provides systemic control of target species with good tolerance of cool- and warm-season grasses. Additionally, these products are mainly postemergence herbicides that control the entire plant but offer some soil residual activity to extend control.
- Milestone provides long-lasting control of a wide variety of tough annual, biennial and perennial broadleaf weeds, including noxious and invasive species, vines and brush. And its flexible formulation makes it a perfect tank-mix partner to control conifers, brush and hardwoods.
- Capstone provides broad-spectrum, selective control of herbaceous broadleaf weeds, vines, brush and sensitive woody plants.
- Opensight is available as an easy-dissolving, dry-granule formulation. It controls many key weed, vine and woody species at low use rates.

“Dow AgroSciences believes in providing dedicated service to those who purchase our products, and we will stand behind them if there’s ever a problem,” Hirst says. “There is much more to vegetation management than just chemistry, so we strive to pair that chemistry with things like outstanding service and environmental stewardship to achieve the highest level of performance in the field.”
